A “first” March 5, 2010

Once upon a time, before I was introduced to Stampin’ Up! I scrapbooked. In the last year I think I have created a total of maybe 7 pages. I have an album for each of my children and one for our family. Yesterday¬†I decided I might rekindle the little scrapbooking flame by creating a page for my baby boy (who is not such a baby anymore!)

Scrapping is something I prefer to do on my own – only because when I scrap with my friends I don’t seem to get much done! I’m too busy looking at all their beautiful pages! Unfortunately I’ve never been great at adding a lot of embellishments to my pages (or this could be fortunate from my husband’s point of view, as less money gets spent!) so most of my pages are clean and simple.

I was sooo excited to use these chipboard letters! I wasn”t sure how to cover them, but then I remembered reading in a magazine that they could be inked. So I whipped out my most favourite colour ink – chocolate chip (what else?) and sponged it on. I really like the way they turned out! The little tag is hand cut, then I used my corner punch to round the corners and my crop-a-dile to punch the hole. Of course it’s chocolate chip ink too. The lettering, however is not Stampin’ Up. Would you believe I picked the set up for about $2 from Crazy Clark’s years ago, and this is first time I’ve used them!

The background paper is Haiku DSP and the border around my photos (and the tag) is more mustard cardstock. I’ve printed the journalling on a sheet of translucent paper and fastened it on with 4 gold brads (don’t look too closely though – the ink was still wet and I managed to smudge it, oops!)

It was nice to spend some time scrapping, I think I will do it again this weekend! ūüôā

After months of receiving the weekly sketch from Mojo Monday, and each first Monday of the month thinking¬† “I could enter this week…” I finally found some time (& courage) to make a card to enter!

For this card I have used a very vanilla base, Pumpkin pie DSP, and chocolate chip ribbon. The sentiment is from the happy moments SAB stamp set. The gorgeous flower was made using Amy’s tutorial (so easy to follow). I have used pumpkin pie and more mustard cardstock, inked with chocolate chip.¬†The leaves are actually River Rock cardstock (one of last year’s in colours).¬†The ribbon is ¬†finished off with 2 little diamontes (not Stampin’ Up).

Very basic, I have no expectation fo winning anything – but I thought it might be fun to actually participate once!

 

Party Hearty!

Ok, I LOVE the Party Hearty stamp set. I think it is so versatile. But a couple of weeks ago while contemplating making some birthday cards I had major brain blockage. So instead of getting myself in a tizz I googled this set and was directed to one of my favourtie sites to visit  РMarelle Taylor. So I have totally cased this card from her. For mine, I have used a base of pumpkin pie (who would have thought I would love orange quite as much as I do?). I’ve coupled this with Washingto Apple DSP, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze & Whisper White cardstock. Inks are also RHR, Baja Breeze and add to that More mustard. I was really pleased with the final product – thanks Marelle!

 

Happy (birthday) Moments

While I was in the mood for stampin’ I decided to try one of the many Mojo Monday sketches I have saved away in my files. I have used Pink Pirouhette for the base card. And again I chose Raspberry Tart DSP to match.

The tiered presents I have stamped in chocolate chip and then used my blender pen to colour in the top and bottom presents. For the middle present I sponged some ink on to give it “all over coverage” quickly. The ribbon is chocolate chip.

This card was really quick & simple to make. Initially I thought “what the heck were you thinking with the colours?”, but the more I look at it, the more I like it! ¬†

 

Good Neighbours Trio

 

 

So I finally got around to making something using the Sale-a-bration sets! YAY! I have put together this trio of a cute lidded box, card and wrapped bread. To wrap the loaf of homemade bread I have used brown paper and a length of raffia. So that it matched the box I added a little stamped tag, backed with the same DSP as the box.

I started with a box that my sister showed me how to make – super simple! All you need is a sheet of 12 x 12, make¬†a three inch cut in 3″ from each edge, fold and adhere. Then I made a lid slightly larger using a sheet of Raspberry Tart DSP. I really like the colour – makes me want to eat the box!

I’ve used my crop-a-dile (for the first time!! so much fun) to set eyelets on either side of the box and corresponding jumbo eyelets on the lid. Then I’ve threaded through chocolate chip ribbon to tie in a pretty bow on top. I’ve filled this box with yummy chocolate chip cookies for a friend, but you could fill it with many different things – a beautiful way to give a gift.

The coordinating card has a very vanilla base, layered with chocolate chip cardstock and then Raspberry Tart DSP. I’ve stamped the little house in ruby red and it’s roof (a little skewif) in chocolate chip, the tree is in old olive. The sentiment I have stamped from the “Best Yet” level 1 hostess set, punched with 1 1/4″ circle and once again cut the second circle free hand (still need that punch!)

 

Inside I’ve stamped the cute little alternating trees, just to make it a little more special. I hope you’ve enjoyed this set, I really enjoyed making it!
